About

Hello! I’m Frank Anderson, and I run ChewnPlay. I grew up in a small lakeside town in the Pacific Northwest, and from an early age I was always tinkering with gear whether it was testing that new backpack for a camping trip, trying out a kitchen gadget in our family home, or seeing how far I could push a portable speaker during a beach barbecue.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design from a regional university, which gave me a solid foundation in how things are built, how they break, and what makes them work for real people.

After graduation, I spent about six years working for a mid-sized manufacturing firm where I managed product testing, quality feedback loops, and customer research. That hands-on experience taught me to value honesty, usability and durability over sleek marketing phrases.

My Journey to This Blog

In early 2025 I decided it was time to pivot. I loved working with products, but I felt strongly that everyday buyers deserved more transparency: less hype, more real-life use. So I started ChewnPlay named as a small nod to “chewing through the details” and “playing with genuine gear” in everyday life. I relocated in mid-2024 to a quieter suburb just outside Austin, Texas (so I still get to enjoy city energy when I want it, but also the ease of a backyard workshop and trails nearby). Here I test, review and share what works and what doesn’t. I treat each review like a conversation with a friend: “Here’s how it held up after six weeks,” “Here’s what surprised me,” and “Here’s what you might want to know before you buy.”

What You’ll Find Here

On ChewnPlay you won’t just find lists of “top picks” and polished specs (though I do include those!). What you’ll find is a deeper dive: I unbox the gear, I use it in real-world settings (from kitchen counters to weekend hikes to commuter-life), and then I share what I learned. I ask myself: Will this stand the day-to-day? Can it be fixed or patched if something goes wrong? Does it really make life easier or just look good in a photo? Whether I’m writing about home tech, outdoor equipment, kitchen tools or that everyday gadget you didn’t know you needed yet I aim to keep things human, grounded and helpful.

Why I Do It

I believe buying stuff should be less stressful than it often is. Too many people feel let down after a purchase because the product sounded amazing in the ad, but in real life fell short. My goal is to help you buy with confidence by showing you both the strengths and the trade-offs. I’m transparent from the start: when I partner with a brand or use affiliate links, I’ll tell you. Your support by engaging with the site keeps me sharpening new gear, writing honest reviews and keeping this community real.

A Little About Life

When I’m not reviewing gear, you might find me sipping a strong cold brew on my back porch, planning a weekend road trip with my partner and our rescue dog, Luna, or rifling through a second-hand tool-box to upgrade something in the house. I love simplicity, durability and a little fun mixed in. Thanks so much for stopping by ChewnPlay. I hope you find something here that genuinely helps and I’d love to hear how it goes when you do.
